HomeBuyer App updated with new RICS Survey Reports

26th March 2021

The Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) launched the new RICS Home Survey Standard on 1st March, with the aim of increasing consistency, transparency, and competency across residential surveying in the UK.

To support the new standard, RICS have launched new versions of the Home Survey Reports. The reports have been revamped to reflect consumer feedback on the format, how the information is presented and the names of the reports to improve clarity and detail. This follows extensive consultation with members, software providers and technical working groups, to ensure that the new reports meet current market demands.

The new standard and reports will offer many benefits, including:

  • the ability to highlight your findings in a way that is easily understood by your clients with the traffic light condition ratings system
  • a clear report structure
  • impartial assessment of a property from RICS, updated to adhere to the Home Survey Standard and ensures that maintains the benchmark for best practice
  • a new design and name to make it easier for the consumer to understand

For further information about the changes that RICS have implemented, please refer to the RICS website.

What’s changed on the CoreLogic HomeBuyer App?

As an affiliated software provider, CoreLogic have been working closely with RICS to ensure that our HomeBuyer App software is updated in accordance with the latest RICS Home Survey Standards and be able to produce home survey reports in a format that is consistent and compliant with the new requirements.

The Home Survey Reports that are now available on the HomeBuyer App include:

  • RICS Home Survey Level 2 (survey only)*
  • RICS Home Survey Level 2 (survey and valuation)

*Complete a Home Survey Report without a valuation

Within the latest release of the HomeBuyer App, we are pleased to confirm that Surveyors now have the option to produce a RICS Home Survey Level 2 Report (without a valuation), whereby the property value is excluded from the final report, which was not possible on previous versions of the software. This will be a welcome addition for many of our customers.

Notable software changes include:

Screenshot – Section G3: It is now possible to add a condition rating (NI, CR1, CR and CR3) to the report.

Screenshot – Section D2: Section D2 Roof Covering, replaces the previous ‘E2 Roof Covering’.

Issues relating to the existing Energy Efficiency Rating:

Surveyors are now able to capture any discrepancies spotted on the existing property EPC, whilst they are surveying a property. This information is captured within a new survey, please see below in the video demonstration:
