eTech team successfully conquer the National Three Peaks Challenge for charity Northleigh House School

eTech’s group of intrepid explorers completed their Three Peaks Challenge on schedule, on Sunday morning 19 June, with 18 of the team making it in under 24 hours.  The challenge involved climbing the highest three mountains: Ben Nevis in Scotland (1344m), Scafell Pike in England (987m) and Snowdon in Wales (1085m).

Here’s their account of the trip:

“The challenge kicked off at 0830 on Saturday morning when we set off up Ben Nevis (the highest peak) in glorious sunshine. After a hard slog to the top we were rewarded with amazing views from the summit, and came back down to a welcome delivery of jacket potatoes and sandwiches to sustain us for the rest of the challenge.

We arrived at Scafell Pike in time to start climbing at 1900 and made it up in good time with enough daylight for some quick photos before we started the descent. The head torches came in handy towards the end of that leg as night fell, and we were all back on the coach and on our way to Snowdon before we knew it.

0400 saw us arrive ready for our third and final peak, Snowdon. Dawn was breaking as we began our climb, but once we hit the summit we were in thick cloud and visibility was limited. We had time for some more quick photos before starting the final leg, crossing the finish line with some time to spare.”

Rebecca Abbott, HR Manager, said “Everyone put in an amazing effort for this challenge, and together we helped each other to complete the three peaks within the 24 hours allowed. A huge well done to everyone involved, including our many sponsors.”

We’ve raised over £3,500 for Northleigh House School, a fantastic charity which helps bullied children continue with education. If you wish to donate to this great charity, you can visit our fundraising page.
